Georg C. Terstappen

Georg C. Terstappen is Vice President of Discovery Research with responsibility for Bioinformatics, Protein Sciences, Neurobiology, Cancer Biology and Screening Sciences Units. He has 13 years of experience in drug discovery obtained at Bayer AG, GlaxoWellcome and GlaxoSmithKline where his last position was Director of Systems Research.

His accomplishments are documented by more than 40 scientific publications and 14 patents. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Bioscience Reports and adj. Professor of Biotechnology at the University of Siena.

Georg has a diploma in biology (with majors in molecular biology, biochemistry and physical chemistry) from the University of Duesseldorf and the Max-Planck-Institute, Cologne, Germany. He obtained his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Research Centre Juelich, Germany, and was a postdoctoral research scientist at the Max-Planck-Institute in Cologne
