Siena Biotech
employs both novel target identification
techniques (differential proteomics
and bioinformatics) and knowledge
based target selection (disease application
and cheminformatics) to provide a
balanced portfolio of risk and opportunity.
Target selection thus ranges from
the use of proteomics based tools
as highlighted in the European Union
Framework VI supported project ADIT,
a major project for the identification
of novel Alzheimer’s Disease
targets, to the use of phenotype screening
to allow compound based or forward
chemical genetics approaches.
Our focus on CNS targets enables a
number of potentially interesting
synergies between disease areas and
the opportunity to explore more fully
the role played by the targets of
interest.
It is important for us to select targets
where the mechanism of action of potential
drug molecules can be investigated
and utilized in their optimization. |
