► VITTORIO GALGANI
President
President
Vittorio Galgani started his career in the Entrepreneurial and Craft arena and, once he accumulated a
large experience in such context, he was appointed member of the Board of Directors and later Vice President of
CSM (Centro Sperimentale del Mobile) in Poggibonsi. In 1988, he was appointed Provincial President of C.N.A.
(Confederazione Nazionale dell'Artigianato, the Italian Crafts Confederation) and held such office for two terms,
until 1997. At the same time he became Regional Vice President of the same organization. In April 1999, he was appointed
President of the Chamber of Commerce of Siena and served in this position for two terms, until May 2009. During this period,
he was appointed Vice President of UNIONCAMERE for Tuscany and remained in office from 2000 to 2004. He is presently a
Director of "Qualivita", a foundation and important body of the Chamber of Commerce, which he himself wanted to set up.
He is also Vice President of Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena.
► GIAN MARIA ROSSOLINI

Vice President
Gian Maria Rossolini, MD, is Professor of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology at the University of Siena Medical School and Director of the Clinical Microbiology and Virology Unit of Siena University Hospital.
He was Chairman of the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Siena, and is currently serving as Chairman of the Steering Committee of the University of Siena Medical School.
Professor Rossolini is an Editor for Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy and member of the Editorial Board for several international journals in the field of Microbiology and Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. He acted as reviewer/advisor on behalf of International and Foreign Institutions (USA, Canada, Israel, Spain) for the selection of research grants and academic professorships.
Has authored 205 scientific papers and is inventor in several patent applications related to diagnostics, antimicrobial agents, or genetic vectors. His current research interests are mostly focused on antimicrobial agents and antibiotic resistance, and microbial biotechnology.
► GIOVANNI GAVIRAGHI

With 150 publications and 20 patents to his credit, Dr. Giovanni Gaviraghi has a wealth of experience in Pharmaceutical Research and Development. He is C.E.O. of Siena Biotech, that he built up starting from its very beginning in 2001. Before joining Siena Biotech, he spent more than 20 years in Glaxo, Verona, Italy where he set up a Research Centre housing about 700 researchers which is still one of the Centre of Excellence in Drug Discovery within GSK. He held a number of responsibilities besides the R&D Directorship of the Research Centre, at an international level as a member of the Glaxo Management Team of the R&D global organization, and at local level as Member of the Board of the Italian Company. In this context, he was also involved in supporting the commercial operations, linking research and development activities to the marketing and sales department. His areas of research and development include: central nervous system diseases (stroke, pain, and depression), infectious diseases (betalactams, quinolones, macrolides), and cardiovascular diseases (hypertension, arteriosclerosis and cardiac ischemia). He was involved in the identification and progression through the development of several NCE (e.g. NMDA antagonist for the treatment of stroke, new betalactams such as trinems), and in the identification, development, launch and marketing of Lacidipine, a potent once daily calcium channel blocker for the treatment of hypertension. Before joining Glaxo, he held the positions of Head of Lab at ISF, a medium-sized Pharmaceutical Company in Milan, and of Lecturer at Polytechnic of Milan. He graduated in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Medicine, and in May 2009 received a honorary degree in Pharmacy from The University of Siena.

Anna Maria Beligni graduated in Italian language and culture. She is Didactic Manager of the University for Foreigners in Siena, where she has been working since 1985. An accomplished management career reflects over 25 years of experience. During this period, she has been developing an extensive experience in several areas such as education, management, language and computer certifications, internationalization, European Union projects, Ministerial projects, CRUI (Italian Deans Association) projects. She is representative for the University for Foreigners in Siena at the ARDSU (Regional Agency for the Right to University Study) Conference.
► PAOLO FABBRINI

Degree (Hons) in Economics from the University of Siena.
On 19th November 1990 he was hired by Banca Nazionale del Lavoro within the framework of a Manager Training Program.

► RITA PALLINI

Rita Pallini, MD, PhD, graduated with honors in 1980 from the University of Siena School of Medicine. She specialized in Neurology with the highest degrees in 1984 and worked at the Institute of Neurological Sciences of the same University until 1992. She obtained a Ph.D. in Neurobiology with highest degrees (1989) in the 1st Cycle of the Italian Ph.D. Program, and was a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Siena, from 1988 till 2006, lecturing Biomolecular Neurogenetics, Immunology, Cellular Pathology and Neurochemistry. She has been carrying out research on relevant aspects of biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology of neurological diseases in Italy at the Universities of Siena, Naples and Rome and at the Siena Sclavo Research Center, as well as abroad at the Dept. of Pharmacology, Texas A&M University, at the School of Medicine, University of Sherbrooke, Quebec, and at the Washington State University, Pullman. She won several prizes of scientific excellence, among which the ARIN (Italian Society for Neurology Research) prize for the best presentation in Medical Genetics at the 1987 Italian Congress on Hereditary Diseases, the Ciba Foundation Fellowship (1988), International Union of Biochemistry Fellowship (1988), NATO International Advanced Fellowship (1990). She wrote more than 70 scientific publications and reports in international journals and owns a patent on the applications of a human sulfurtransferase enzyme.

Dario Perrucci worked as a Magistrate from 01.15.1970 to 01.31.2010 and, throughout his 40 year career and upon his own decision, he only served as an examining and inquiring magistrate. He started his career as a Public Prosecutor in Tolmezzo (1971-1979), then became Public Prosecutor (1979-1995) and Chief District Attorney (1995-2000) in Siena. He ended his career as Attorney General in Florence (2000 - January 2010), where he was granted the honor title of associate Attorney General of the Court of Cassation.

Franco Picchieri obtained an accounting high-school diploma and later specialized in industrial relations and corporate supporting instruments by participating in several training courses. He fulfilled a number of different professional tasks as service coordinator and manager, including for the trade-union headquarters in Chiusi and as a public officer in Valdichiana. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the regional CAAF (Center for Fiscal Assistance) and President of San Casciano SpA - owner of the spa "Fonteverde". He is employed by Patto 2000, a company based in Chiusi and, since 2004, he has been serving as Mayor of San Casciano dei Bagni.

Spiridon Skiftas graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Siena with an experimental degree thesis on catabolism of beta interferon developed at the General Physiology Department. He was a fellow with the same university, and wrote several scientific publications on the metabolism, purification, and catabolism of interferon and on the ageing mechanisms of red blood cells. He is a member of the Management Board of the Pharmaceutical Association of Siena Province serving as Treasurer and Vice President, and a member of the Examining Commission for Professional Qualification. He is Director of Antica Farmacia Parenti in Siena.

President
Anna Molinaro is a Chartered Accountant and Auditor, and has been registered with the Board of Chartered Accountants since 1993. She developed an extensive experience as a consultant in administrative, corporate, contract, tax and auditing matters working for profit and non-profit entities, public agencies, and private companies. She is trustee in bankruptcy and liquidator, and technical consultant for the Court of Siena. Since 2009, she has been serving as standing auditor of Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena. She is also President of the Board of Auditors of the Board of Registered Accountants, Standing Auditor of "Siena Mortgages 07-5 Spa", and Substitute Auditor of "Microcredito di Solidarietà SpA".

He graduated in Economics and Banking Science in 1989. He has been working as a Chartered Accountant in Siena since 1994, and is auditor, corporate and fiscal consultant, specializing in tax issues, for leading national and international companies. He also serves as Auditor for major companies.

She obtained her high-school diploma in accounting and trade, and graduated in economics from the University of Florence. She has IT experience with the AS/400, Microsoft Office, SAP R/3, Hyperion Solutions, Team system, Zucchetti. She speaks and writes English fluently and has basic knowledge of French. She worked as Accounting Manager for Prada Spa-Prada Italia Spa, as Financial Controller for Consolidated Balance Sheets for Salvatore Ferragamo Italia Spa, as Sole Auditor for the municipalities of Terranuova Bracciolini and Bucine, and as President of the Board of Auditors of the Arezzo Province. She served as Auditor of the following companies: Siena Biotech Spa, Centro Affari e Convegni Arezzo SRL, CRCM Srl, Europrogetti Srl, Gamberini Auto Srl, Molino Parri Srl, Produrre Pulito Spa. She is member of the Supervisory Boards of Sansedoni Spa and Firenze Fiera Spa.
